What is Cryotherapy and what does it treat?
Cryotherapy is a reference treatment for the treatment of skin imperfections. It treats the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid to destroy the cell structure. Treatment goes quickly and the duration will depend on the size and the depth. The innovative Accurett emits a fine jet of CO2 under high pressure which allows the clinician to work with precision. The result is that there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue. Treatment with the Accurett is extremely accurate and practical: pigmented spots, age spots, sun spots, with the Accurett you can now have this treatment done at The Slimming Zone.
How it works
Procedures typically last from 2 to 10 seconds per spot. So you can be in and out quickly. After the treatment the spot that has been destroyed will – during 15 days – act as a protective cover for the new skin that is forming. Generally there are 2 short cycles for the treatment.
First cycle freeze
The applicator of the Accurett is held to the skin and the gas is supplied to the tissue by circular movements. This can be from 2-10 seconds, depending on the size and depth of the relevant tissue.
Second cycle freeze
After the first cycle a second freeze is applied. You may observe that the freezing may go quicker this time
Frequently asked questions
Are there any side effects?
Cryotherapy is a low-risk procedure. There are a few side effects that may occur as a result of treatment including: Pigmentary changes (hypopigmentation & hyperpigmentation). Minor shards of frozen ice may blow out, that will irritate on contact with healthy skin. Hair follicle damage and permanent alopecia. Discuss any concerns you have with your clinician.
How long are Accurett treatments?
The duration of the treatment time will depend on the surface area and the thickness of the tissue being treated. Upon the clinical evaluation of the thickness of the area, the clinician will choose an application time from 2 to 15 seconds.
How much will the treatment cost?
The cost of treatment will depend on the clinic, the size of the area and the number of spots involved. Make an appointment with your clinician to discuss costs and to assess your area.
How safe is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy is a low-risk procedure. Accurett delivers CO2 directly to the area and not the healthy surrounding tissue. Accurett is both CE and FDA registered.
Is the treatment painful?
There will be a pain sensation similar to a ballpoint pen being pushed onto the skin when the CO2 touches the lesion. There might be a little residual for a few minutes after treatment. Occasionally a blister might form and persist for a few hours.
What if I have darker skin?
Repeated short freezing cycles of 2 to 4 seconds at two-week intervals are recommended if you have a darker skin type.
When will I see the result ?
After the treatment new skin will be developed during the next 14 days. The old lesion will form a crust that will fall off (14 days).
Any after care necessary?
The new formed skin should be protected for sun
the moment the crust will fall off.
